Rating: - Getting rid of subtitles
By Kathleen M. Kober ()
The Samsung website suggests two options for this problem...one has you starting from the beginning of the dvd, but the following lets you resume where you are in the film..
This worked for me...... Hit button #4 on dvd remote, which is the subtitle button not #1, repeatedly until it says off

Rating: - Perfect, exactly what I needed!!

I needed a DVD player that will also play .avi files, and this does it. Now I can put an .avi movie from my computer onto an USB drive and then play the movie back on my TV! Great price too!

Rating: - Warranty...
By Sean Bremner (Nashville)
I loved this dvd player until it died days after the warranty. now i am in tennessee, samsung\'s website tells me to have it serviced in new jersey for $80, yes, more than i paid for it. i understand the great technology samsung has, so i am sure this doesn\'t happen to a lot of people, i am just quite very unlucky... still, makes me angry the complete lack of help you receive once you just pass your warranty period. one star from me, one lousy, crummy star...

Rating: - Easy Setup

I am very pleased with my Samsung DVD 1080P9. The setup was even easier than I expected with my HD cord to my Samsung TV. I am really enjoying the improved picture with the Upconverting feature.

Rating: - Definite Buy - USB Function is the Hidden Treasure!

I\'ve own the model #1080P9 for about 3 months now and have really put it through its paces.

The cons first. The display is so dim that you really can\'t view it from across the room. I don\'t find it that big of a deal.

The machine does not hold pause for very long and it will lose your place in a paused movie if you leave it paused too long. We\'ve learned to work around this by starting it momentarily then pausing it again if we are taking a long break from a movie, so again not a show stopper.

Now the pros, and they are big pros!

It is a great \"DVD Player\", but so are lots of other machines. What makes this one so awesome is the USB capability.

I no longer have to spend hours downloading, converting and burning DVDs. I download a lot of movies in .avi format and they are a royal pain to burn to DVD. With this machine, you simply download the movie, copy it to a thumb drive and plug it into the machine. No pain, works great every time. I have used other formats on the thumb drive and the machine has no problem recognizing the format and playing them. I use a pretty normal speed of transfer zip drive, a SanDisk 4 gig cruzer and have never seen the movie pause or lug as data is transferred.

Here is the real hidden jewel with the USB feature, it also \"upsamples\" the usb played videos. I have some old, lousy quality .avi films which look very washy on the computer monitor but when played through the 1080P9 onto my Visio 42\" 1080pi Television look great - not DVD quality of course, but very watchable.

My previous player was a Phillips Home Theater and it had a very clunky interface, took forever to respond to menu commands and tray opening was a lonnnnnnng ordeal. This Samsung is noticeably superior in all these areas to the Phillips.

I am a huge fan of this machine. Unfortunately I believe it is being closed out so grab one now. I paid $49.00 for mine on clearance.
