Bought this drive a couple months back. Worked fine for about a month then the drive started going bad after minimal use only. I do not recommend this product because it is too much of a hassle to use. You need a couple of 3rd software costing $100+ to make blu-ray playable. Do yourself a favorite and get a standalone player. Stay away from this crappy product.

The only complaint that I would have about this product it\'s the outdated firmware, but the update was so easy and fast that I don\'t even remember about it anymore. And also you don\'t need a PC with some crazy specs to use it, a decent media PC will do the job. And for whoever wants the newest update for this drive [...]

Works great for my HTPC playing blueray/ hddvd/ dvds. Silent, quick to spin up and fast. No complaints.

This drive installed with no problem and worked on DVDs on Vista with no tweaking necessary. However the BluRay player software gave me some problems. Initially I installed everything and did the suggested online updates but I couldn\'t get a BluRay disk to play on it right away until I uninstalled the software completely and downloaded a specific version of the software.

I can\'t recall all of the steps I took to fix it but it didn\'t take too long to fix and these small problems may be expected with new technology like BluRay. In the end I got it working and I\'m happy with it.

Just be prepared to wrestle with the software for the BluRay/HDDVD portion. You should have no problem getting it working with DVDs though.

I upgraded my Graphics board with Asus EN9400GT to play back on my 70-inch Full-HD SXRD Sony. Picture-quality is good, almost as good as that played back on Sony S350 Bluray player.
If you have DVI connection to your display, you may need to switch back to analog VGA, since display may not have HDCP protocol to communicate with Graphics card and playing will stall after 5 seconds.
